Rewind to 2004 when I was a wide eyed 14 year old who just discovered the vintage stores of Sydney, Australia for the first time. Flicking through the racks of well worn tees, cuts of denim I had never seen before and crazy sequinned dresses I knew i had found my home.
Nothing quite compares to the uniqueness of vintage fashion. The whole process is so much more than an average shopping adventure through a lifeless mall. Everything from digging through racks to trying a bunch of styles on because sizes are never consistent is part of the experience and really makes you feel like you've landed on something special when you find the perfect piece. Vintage fashion is ALWAYS one-of-a-kind. There's no mass production to speak of which means good things if you want to make a statement through fashion and even better things for the environment.
After curating my own selection of vintage pieces over the years, I wanted to share my passion with the rest of the world. I had spent a lot of time and effort physically sourcing these pieces from around the world and as much as I loved the experience of shuffling through piles to find that one gem, I knew there was a way to make these items accessible to the public via an online store.
At the time, there was no online vintage to speak of, probably because the logistics of creating an online store where every product is a one-off is very difficult. I decided I was going to make it work.
I attached a vintage section to my first business, STYLEHUB in 2016 which was an immediate hit. Even though the vintage offering only comprised of a few different styles of Harley Davidson tees, they sold out almost immediately and customers were demanding more.
From there, I set off to the USA and Europe to find suppliers so I could grow this beast. Before I knew it, I was knees deep in warehouses full of vintage stock. It was like I was 14 again, but on a MUCH larger scale.
From there, our vintage offering only grew and we added new product lines and categories until finally we decided that vintage needed its own brand, and in 2019 we rebranded from STYLEHUB to Gone Tomorrow Vintage.
We opened up our Alexandria HQ to customers in Sydney as a curated vintage shopping experience, so our online customers can come and touch, feel and try on the products. We are constantly finding new vintage suppliers and expanding our product categories to maintain our standing as the original and the best vintage retailer in Australia.
